What’s inside?
Shea Butter
Have you heard of Shea butter? The super ingredient has been making waves in the beauty industry. It seems to be in almost every product these days, and there’s even a brand named after it. This African butter has impressive benefits, but before I get into those, I’d like to share my first experience with it.
In 2009, I worked at a barbershop as one of my first jobs after completing beauty school. During that time, it was common for people to walk in and try to sell us the latest products before they were even released, as well as the good ol bootleg items.
One day, an African man entered our barbershop and spoke about a remarkable butter with magical healing abilities. Initially, I was doubtful, as anyone would be. However, he mentioned it was called Shea Butter and originated from his homeland. He explained that it could aid in alleviating pain and improving skin conditions.
During my first year of consistently standing for hours plus playing arena football, I experienced back pain. A man at the barbershop claimed to have the perfect remedy – shea butter. As a 20-year-old surrounded by hustlers, I was skeptical, having been previously taken advantage of. However, I allowed him to apply the shea butter to my back, and to my surprise, my pain vanished.
He proceeded to explain the advantages of using Shea butter, citing its effectiveness in treating skin conditions.
At the time, my friend’s son struggled with eczema and was dissatisfied with the creams and medications prescribed by the doctor. I decided to purchase Shea butter, hoping to find a solution for him.
To my surprise, the itching subsided after a few weeks of use, and the three-year-old’s scars and discoloration disappeared after a few more weeks.
I was astounded and impressed by the outcome, and I became a firm believer in Shea butter. Raw and unrefined Shea butter is the best option for maximum benefits.
It was an obvious choice for me to include the super ingredient in the moisturizing pomade formula. I personally experienced its remarkable advantages and observed how it enhanced the well-being of both the scalp and skin.
I firmly believe that a healthy scalp is the key to having healthy hair. To ensure optimal growth, it’s essential to have a solid foundation. That’s why I carefully selected ingredients that provide nourishment to the scalp.
Black Seed Oil
Lately, I’ve been loving black seed oil. This incredible substance, known as the “blessed seed,” offers many benefits and practical applications. I’m particularly impressed by its ability to combat microbes and reduce inflammation.
Its been shown to help with acne, psoriasis, and eczema and assists with strengthening hair.
It’s important to remember that a healthy scalp is essential for healthy hair. Nowadays, I often come across scalp issues, usually a mix of dryness, mild psoriasis, and dandruff. Fortunately, all the ingredients in this product work together to prevent such problems by reducing inflammation and soothing the scalp.
Mango Butter
Back in 2013, Mango butter was introduced to me by my brother Vince The Barber. He recommended a brand that utilized mango butter as its primary ingredient. I was impressed by its lightweight texture and intense moisturizing benefits.
It is rich in vitamin E and has been proven to strengthen hair follicles while calming scalp irritation.
How to use Year 5?
This product is suitable for all hair types. However, it works best for hair types 2C to 4C.
To use, scoop a dime-sized amount into your palms, apply to your hair, and massage into your scalp until smooth. Then, brush or comb your hair to your desired style.
You can make the most of the benefits of shea butter by gently massaging any remaining product into your hands.
Year 5 offers a lightweight hold perfect for daily styling, leaving your hair feeling moisturized and soft.
