Stress and burnout are common in today’s fast-paced world, particularly for men. As a result, the significance of wellness and grooming gifts has increased. Men’s self-care and grooming routines were traditionally viewed in a practical light – a quick shave, a basic haircut, a shower, and they were done. However, the changing landscape of male wellness and grooming reflects a growing appreciation of the importance of these practices in maintaining appearances and promoting overall well-being.

Why Wellness and Grooming are Important?
For many men, a grooming routine is more than just a way to keep themselves physically clean and tidy; it’s a ritual that provides a rare moment of calm in their otherwise hectic lives. Whether it’s the therapeutic process of shaving with precision, the sensory experience of using nourishing beard oil, or the straightforward act of combing their hair, these routines provide an opportunity to slow down, take care of themselves, and engage in mindfulness.
Moreover, wellness and grooming gifts are a thoughtful way to encourage the men in our lives to take extra time for themselves. It is an acknowledgment of their need for rest and a recognition of the importance of looking and feeling their best. These gifts can gently remind them to set aside a moment in their day for self-care, promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
When finding the perfect gift for the men in our lives – fathers, partners, friends, or colleagues – it’s essential to find something that will balance practicality and indulgence, which can be incredibly challenging when working within a budget. This guide is here to help by presenting a selection of wellness and grooming gifts that are both thoughtful and affordable. Take a look to discover gift ideas under $40 that are sure to impress any man and add a touch of luxury and care to his daily routine.
For the Hair Care Enthusiast
Quality Shampoos – $30
Investing in a high-quality shampoo can make a massive difference in the health of your hair and the appearance of your locks. While some people may want to spend at most ten dollars on a bottle of shampoo, receiving it as a gift can be a nice treat. I challenge you to try using a quality shampoo and conditioner for at least a month, and you will surely notice a difference in your hair and scalp. Olaplex is a great brand; their basic shampoo and conditioner cover all hair types. For blonde or platinum hair, the purple shampoo is a great choice. You can also check out other options [here]
Scalp Massagers – $12
This product is a game changer as it can totally upgrade someone’s shampoo routine. I even use it on my clients now; they all say it feels great on their scalp. For those who should be taking it easy on their hands, like me, this is a great alternative. Girls with long nails, this is your new best friend for getting a good scalp massage. Even for the lazy guy who only wants to spend 30 seconds shampooing, this product would do a much better job than just using your fingers for those 30 seconds.
Twist it up – $25
If you have curly or coily hair, you should definitely keep one of these handy, especially if you like the nappy fro look. I personally prefer this over the sponge for health and sanitation reasons, as it can be challenging to clean and may pull your hair out. Additionally, the sponge takes up a lot of space, making it hard to carry while traveling. Although it may look like a tennis racket, trust me when I say this is a must-have bathroom tool for men with curly hair.
Beard Care Essentials
Beard Trimmers – $28
Usually, I suggest investing in professional-grade clippers as they tend to last longer. I have had clippers that lasted me for almost 15 years. However, I understand that only some people are willing to spend $100 or more on clippers. That’s why I created a list of the best clippers that cost under $100. Nevertheless, this is the cheapest clipper I’ve found so far, and according to the reviews, it is pretty good. But there’s only one way to find out. Check out the YouTube review here.
Beard Wash – $18
Using beard wash is something that has gradually become a part of my grooming routine. In the past, I used to rely on face wash for all my facial cleansing needs. However, I soon realized that just like I wouldn’t use regular soap or face wash for my scalp, I shouldn’t be using it for my beard either. If you have a beard that’s long enough to comb, then a beard wash is definitely worth considering. . Alternatively, you can try using a co-wash, which is a lighter version of shampoo. Both are highly moisturizing and will help you keep your beard hair manageable.
For the Mindful and Reflective
5-minute journal – $28
If you’re looking for a unique gift for someone who seems to have everything, I highly recommend this journal. It only takes 5 minutes a day to complete. You check in once in the morning and once in the evening. The journal includes daily and weekly challenges and some inspiring quotes. As someone whose life can be hectic, it’s helpful to have a place to reflect on my day and focus on gratitude.
The journal is easy to use but has a powerful impact – it starts with listing things you’re grateful for in the morning and ends with reflecting on highlights from your day in the evening. This practice has helped me appreciate even the small wins in my day. I use the journal throughout the year. It lasts about three months when used daily, but I also combine it with another journal. (listed below)
Regular journal – $25
I have been journaling on and off throughout my entire life. Journaling has been an effective way to put my thoughts down on paper, especially when my mind is overwhelmed. It’s a place where I can just let go, and there are no rules or structures to follow. It’s just me and my journal. Sometimes, I draw, brainstorm, debate, encourage, or simply check in with my feelings. Seeing the words on paper allows me to step back and separate my emotions from my thoughts. I must say that this is my favorite journal so far. The quality of the journal is exceptional.
For the Traditional Shaver
Gillette Razors – $13
I have been fortunate enough to test out Gillette’s products through my good friends VinceTheBarber and Ray Santos, who are both a part of the Gillette Grooming Council. I have passed on these products to my clients and have received nothing but positive feedback. The blades are incredibly smooth, thanks to the skin guard that helps maintain a comfortable shave with minimal irritation. It seems that all skin tones clients have enjoyed using this product.
Skin/ Scalp/ Beard Oil – $35
Having a good quality oil in your cabinet is essential. Even before branding Year 1 and Year 2, I always kept a bottle of coconut or argan oil in my bathroom. These oils are versatile and can be used for anything. I mix them with my unscented lotion or shea butter to moisturize my skin. When my beard feels dry, I use Year 2 as the final step in my face wash routine. After shampooing and conditioning, I apply oil to my scalp to lock in moisture. For clients who prefer a minimalistic approach, I recommend using Year 1 or 2 as a pre-blow dry product, followed by sealing the hair shafts with high heat. This technique usually keeps the hair in place all day (I will be sharing a video soon). When using oils, it’s important to choose organic products for clean and safe skin application.
Additional Gift Ideas
Tripod – $24
One of the best purchases I made this year was this lightweight tripod that fits in any bag, even my cross-body bag. It’s easy to set up and take down, and although I personally don’t use the Bluetooth button, it could be useful to some. Nowadays, with everyone being a content creator, many guys would appreciate having a good-quality tripod.
Sunday Staples – Organic Whole Leaf Tea – $25
I recently discovered a new way of drinking tea thanks to my good friends at Sunday Staples. They use whole leaves, which results in a simply wonderful taste. Whenever I drink store-bought teas now, I feel a little disappointed because they are not as smooth as the ones from Sunday Staples. If you try this tea, be aware that you might not enjoy other teas as much afterward. But, in all seriousness, this tea would make an excellent gift for any tea lover. Sipping tea with one of the journals above is a wellness game-changer. My current favorites are the OOLONG and the Genesis (Jasmine).
Portable Charger – $39.99
The other day, I had an unexpected problem. I was leaving the gym and went to my car trunk to grab something. However, I accidentally left my keys inside the trunk and closed it. I realized that I had locked myself out of the car. When I checked my phone, it was only 8% charged, and the gym was closing soon. I was on hold with roadside assistance, and I didn’t have a charger.
Fortunately, one of the black belts at the gym noticed my predicament and offered help. He pulled a small black box from his bag and handed it to me. I was initially confused, but then he showed me how to attach it to the back of my phone. The device immediately started charging my phone, and I didn’t need any cords. This Anker charger was super small and lightweight, giving me a full charge in about 40 minutes.
Conclusion
Choosing the right gift for him doesn’t have to be a daunting task, nor does it have to break the bank. The items listed in this guide serve as a testament to the fact that thoughtful, high-quality gifts can be both affordable and deeply appreciated. Whether it’s enhancing his grooming routine or contributing to his overall wellness, each of these gifts under $40 is poised to bring a smile to his face and a touch of luxury to his daily life. Remember, the value of a gift isn’t measured in dollars but in the thought and care that goes into choosing it.
