TEN x Claytone Beach Cleanup

Last Updated on February 26, 2024 by David Thomas

I founded my company intending to help people make informed haircare decisions. However, it’s important to me that this doesn’t come at the expense of the environment. As a resident of Los Angeles, I often feel like the city lacks culture, perhaps due to the influx of people from other places. Instead, we’re all focused on working hard to support our families and make a living, and the environment tends to be the last thing on our minds. I often forget how fortunate I am to live so close to the beach in LA.

The beach is a stunning example of nature’s wonders..

It’s also the main reason why LA is 10 -15 degrees cooler than the surrounding cities.

One thing that bothers me is when people complain about the traffic in LA. While it’s certainly frustrating, it’s simply a part of the price we pay to live here. If the city were truly terrible, there wouldn’t be so many people crowding to come here. Rather than complaining, I believe we should all appreciate the beautiful things this city offers and do our part to care for our environment.

While I can’t control the actions of others, I will continue to do my part to care for my space and the environment for as long as I’m here. When my company TEN sponsored a beach clean-up, I was blown away by the turnout. People stopped us to express gratitude, and local beachgoers joined in to support the cause. This experience was a success in my eyes, as my goal was to inspire others to think about something beyond themselves.

The commitment from the people that came out was beyond what I could have imagined. We didn’t just clean the beach; we turned it into a spectacle of unity and environmental consciousness. From the young children eager to make a difference to the elderly locals who have seen the beach’s transformation over the years – everyone played a part.
We laughed, shared stories, played games, and developed a close bond that can only come from working toward a common goal. It was clear to me then that this is our culture – a culture of care, unity, and action. This is what LA means to me. And I believe this spirit can be found in any community that decides to take action.

The success of the beach clean-up went beyond just filling buckets and bags with trash and leaving behind a cleaner stretch of sand. The true victory was planting the seed of change in each individual’s heart. All participants witnessed how their efforts can make a difference. I hope they will carry this experience with them and make more conscious decisions in their daily lives.
Looking ahead, I am confident that we have the power to make a significant impact. Our recent beach clean-up initiative is only the beginning of a much larger movement. This has instilled in us a strong desire to continue taking action toward preserving the natural beauty of our city. At TEN Haircare, we are not simply promoting better haircare options; we are striving to develop a culture of environmental consciousness that goes beyond ourselves.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who showed up and contributed their time and energy. To the local businesses who supported us, the individuals who stopped by to thank you, and those who even spontaneously joined.

“You” made this event a success.

This journey toward creating a better environment is a long one. Still, as I stood there watching our community come together, I couldn’t help but feel hopeful. I believe that if we all take responsibility for our environment and take small steps in our daily lives, we can make a significant difference.

The fight against pollution continues after this beach clean-up. It’s only the beginning. And I hope, in reading this, you feel inspired to do your part too. Whether it’s reducing waste, educating others about the importance of sustainability, or organizing a clean-up in your own local area, every effort counts. Let’s strive to leave this world a little better than we found it, one small action at a time.

Peace…

-D.T.
