TEN Essentials x Lemongrass
The Health and Wellness Benefits of Lemongrass
Did you know that lemongrass doesn’t actually come from lemons? The scent of lemons actually comes from the leaf or stem of the herb. Lemongrass is typically imported from India, Australia, and/or Southeast Asia. There are many scientific benefits to using the plant, which you can learn more about here. One study in particular caught my attention, which found that smelling lemongrass oil had a calming effect on anxiety symptoms. This herb has been used for centuries for good reason, as it’s been linked to helping with issues such as headaches, stomachaches, muscle pain, high blood pressure, and more. Plus, it smells great!
Lemongrass in Haircare
Among the many benefits of lemongrass are the amazing benefits for skin and hair. Due to its antiseptic properties, lemongrass has been used over the years to treat irritated and swollen skin, which is great if you suffer from occasional winter dandruff. Year 02 from TEN is highlighted by its lemon-like scent. We had to include it as it helps with all scalp and skin type issues and offers protection for pores against bacteria. It helps with the elasticity of the skin and offers relief from itching and symptoms associated with dandruff or dry skin.
Instant Dandruff Relief Tip:
Mix 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and 6-8 drops of TEN Essentials Lemongrass, then apply to the scalp. Let it sit for 20 minutes, then shampoo and condition.

Enhancing Home Ambience with Lemongrass
Candles
Last year, we experimented with essential oils in candles versus synthetic fragrance oil, and the results were astonishing. The burn was smooth and not overpowering, which was great for people who suffer from allergies and can’t handle strong smells. If you’ve ever experimented with making candles, or if you see a brand that makes candles with essential oils, we highly suggest giving it a try.
Diffusers
This is our favorite way to use Lemongrass. After testing a bunch of essential oils in the diffuser, Lemongrass is by far the most consistent smell. Some essential oils tend to not smell as prominent after a while, but lemongrass stays potent the entire time. Diffusers offer an easy way to enhance the smell of your environment without the worry of toxins from candles or incense. If you’ve ever come into the TEN studio, chances are you’ve smelled the relaxing, soothing smell of Lemongrass.
