I tried out these BabylissPro Knock-off Clippers.
Walmart just started selling from sellers from around the world (similar to Amazon). When I first found these, my eyes lit up because I thought I found the plug from China!
I had to try them and test them out.
Design
So compared to the Babyliss Pro Gold trimmers, the design is quite similar in size. But that’s about it. The materials, weight, blades & even the screws felt a bit cheap. I want to do a drop test to see how it holds up but I wanted to save it for a video idea I have.
The trimmers come with guards, a cleaning brush, and USB charging cord. (First red Flag)
Side-by-side Comparison
Price
Babyliss Pro – $184
Gold Trimmer – $27.99
Weight
Babyliss Pro – 8.4oz
Gold Trimmer – 6.5oz
Results
After spending 20 min recording an unboxing video, it was time to test them out. Before I use ANY trimmers, I test them out on myself. I test them on the soft side of my hand to make sure they’re not too sharp for the client’s face, neck, or forehead.
On this test, something felt off. I tried to trim the hair on my arm, but it didn’t turn out well. Despite being switched on, the clippers were unable to effectively trim the hair. It was as if they were just gliding over the hair.
No good.
I immediately reach for my handy dandy screwdriver to take this thing apart.
I tried to fix the clipper, but unfortunately, the screws and plastic parts seemed to be super low quality. It looks as if the screw was stripping the joint as I took it out.
Bummer.
Conclusion
I noticed that Walmart had listed these clippers with over 1100 reviews. But, when I attempted to request a refund or replacement, I did not receive a response.
Upon further examination of the reviews, it appeared that they were for the seller rather than the actual item. The trimmer reviews only had four reviews and they appeared to be fake.
I would stay far far away from this trimmer.
Usually, I would say this was a waste of money, but I had fun with this one but learn from me and save your money.
What clippers should I try next??
